Energy XXI is an independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company whose growth strategy emphasizes acquisitions, enhanced by its value-added organic drilling program.  The company's properties are located in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico waters and the Gulf Coast onshore.  We are currently looking to fill the position of a Planning Analyst.


The role of the Planning Analyst (PA) is to provide financial information to assist the Asset

& Operations Teams in managing their business and tracking performance vs. goals, as well as providing the information conduit from the Teams to the Corporate groups such as Planning, Investor Relations, etc. The PA will provide monthly variance analysis that will assist the Teams in identifying the key reasons for differences between performance and Budget, in a way that provides actionable insights. The PA will report to the Director, Corporate Planning, while also working very closely with the Asset/Operation Managers, the Functional managers, and the Asset Teams members.



  • Performance Analysis
  • Regional P/L statement analysis
    • Budget vs actual
  • Volume/Capex/LOE analysis
    • Base vs uplift, Budget vs actual, insightful and actionable variance analysis
  • Reviews monthly forecast
  • Budget/LRP prep/review
  • Scorecard/KPI tracking
  • IR support/coordination
  • SEC filings support
  • Corporate Model maintenance & updating for results where appropriate
  • Lookback consolidation where appropriate



  • Bachelor degree required
  • Minimum 5 years’ industry experience
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and maintain accuracy
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously or as a team member
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning sensitive financial information
  • Demonstrate sound work ethics
  • Ability to run Aries preferred
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required
    • Excel proficiency extremely important
