Overview

Energy XXI is an independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company whose growth strategy emphasizes acquisitions, enhanced by its value-added organic drilling program.  The company's properties are located in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico waters and the Gulf Coast onshore.  We are currently looking to fill the position of a Senior Geophysicist Advisor in Houston, Texas. This role will report into the Asset Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, interpret and assess geophysical data necessary to evaluate existing reserves potential and prospective drilling opportunities
  • Create seismic based maps through the integration of seismic (stacked, partial stacked, gather, inversion, spectral decomposition, coherence and other seismic datasets) and well bore data including but not limited to well logs, geochemical data, core data, well velocity surveys, etc.
  • Generate advanced geophysical products (offset gather analysis, synthetic seismograms, etc.) in support of our exploration and development objectives
  • Generate, characterize and catalog rock physics attributes and responses for wells including AVO response and class designations
  • Screen seismic data volumes to high-grade prospectively based on AVO characterization methods
  • In conjunction with the other geoscientists on the team, build and maintain static geological models and fully document all work completed
  • 3D seismic interpretation for exploration and development well prospect generation
  • Communicate with drilling department, both pre-drill and while drilling, to monitor drilling progress vs. seismic predictions and responses.
  • Evaluation of third party exploration projects
  • Evaluation for A & D projects 

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Geophysics/Geosciences
  • Minimum 10-15 years’ experience in geophysical/geological technology
  • Excellent SMT Seismic Interpretation Skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree strongly preferred
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Petra Skills
