    EGC  is an independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company whose growth strategy emphasizes acquisitions, enhanced by its value-added organic drilling program.  The company's properties are located in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico waters and the Gulf Coast onshore. 

     

    POSITION SUMMARY

    In this newly titled position, the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager is responsible for providing oversight to the daily operations of the Energy XXI onshore and offshore business.  Identifying and developing the competencies of the HSE team, and oversight of HSE programs implemented by the EGC Sr. / HSE Specialist contractors by designing, selecting, implementing and monitoring HSE programs in support of the company’s core values, especially as they pertain to the health, safety and environmental. The Position will work with all Operational departments to identify and implement key HSE programs and requirements by performing HSE needs assessments, monitoring regulatory compliance and delivering HSE programs.

    Responsibilities

    • Directs and promotes the Company in building and engaging in a proactive safety culture.
    • Ensures that the HSE management system is in compliance with HSE policy, guidelines, applicable standards and instructions
    • Support Company management in setting HSE objectives
    • Managing the Company’s process for contractor audits and certifications related to the HSE Management System
    • Support the internal HSE audit process and manage the process of closing out action items
    • Manages the HSE team in the implementation of HSE policies and procedures
    • Moderating interface with management for reviewing the root cause analysis process.
    • Selection and application of HSE methods and tools to support the HSE management system
    • Serve as HSE subject matter expert and provide information to management about HSE related performance, issues and status of the HSE management system in regards to effectiveness and compliance
    • Provide information to management about recommendations for process improvements and decision proposals
    • Manages and reviews work site hazard assessments, identifies unsafe acts/conditions or unsafe behaviors, provides support, guidance and recommendations for corrective action to management team.
    • Manage and create safety related documents, policies and procedures for Company in compliance with regulatory agencies and industry best practices.
    • Direct, manage and provide expertise for incident investigations, case management, near misses, and/or equipment damage.
    • Oversee the Data Management process
    • Provide development and leadership to a team of HSE professionals
    • Collaborate with the Vice President, HSE&R and business units to ensure successful development and implementation of standards and procedures.
    • Consistently engage senior and line operation’s managers to ensure HSE needs assessments are current and effective

     

    Qualifications

    • B.S. in Health & Safety or related Science Discipline.
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is preferred.
    • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry with a significant portion of that supporting the Gulf of Mexico.
    • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, BSEE and USCG requirements
    • Strong leadership and organization skills, with the ability to achieve priorities, goals and strategies with limited supervision.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to appropriately target communication to intended audience, from field environment to Sr. Management.
    • Proficient knowledge of computer software (e.g., MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
    • Ability to travel 25% of the time.
