    EGC is an independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company whose growth strategy emphasizes acquisitions, enhanced by its value-added organic drilling program. The company's properties are located in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico waters and the Gulf Coast onshore. We are currently looking to fill the position of Landman in Houston, Texas.  This position will report into the Vice President of Land.


    • Direct lease brokers in the field, acquire state and federal leases through lease sales.
    • Work within a multi-disciplinary team (Geological, Geophysical, Operational, Accounting, Marketing and Regulatory) to accomplish goals and objectives within budgetary guidelines established by senior management.
    • Communicate with Land Manager regarding new and existing agreements.
    • Develop land expertise in the Federal OCS and multiple onshore and offshore state areas.
    • Negotiate industry trades and draft and interpret basic land agreements.
    • Analyze and resolve issues associated with basic land agreements.
    • Assist Land Administration in interpreting title opinions and setting up division order and lease records.
    • Investigate and develop an understanding of rules and regulations set forth by various governmental agencies having jurisdiction.
    • Assist with preparations for interface with regulatory agencies.
    • Attend and testify at oil and gas regulatory hearings, meetings and conferences.
    • Successfully multi-task while being responsible for day to day land activities on an assigned portfolio of properties.
    • Formulate strategy to achieve corporate goals, presentation of strategy to senior management personnel and implementation of same.
    • Be adept in presentations, both formal and informal to company management.
    • Develop third party relationships and solicit exploration and acquisition opportunities.
    • Additional duties, as assigned.



    • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Petroleum Land Management, Energy Management/Commerce, Business, Political Science or related discipline.
    • Knowledge of Excalibur Land System.
    • Must be highly organized with strong analytical skills and attention to details. Must be able to work with limited supervision.
    • Exceptionally strong oral and written communication, negotiating and presentation skills.
    • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office.
    • Must be able to prepare agreements, correspondence etc.
    • Prior experience with exploration activities in the Gulf Coast, a plus.
    • Must be able to travel, as required.
